Kim Hoppe is an Artist in Carpinteria, CA who uses Art, Architecture and Interior Design to express her visions of love, innocence and joy. No matter the medium, the intention of the work is to create a sense of home through vivid color, playful imagery and a feeling of familiarity. Kim uses fruits, flowers and objects that feel both intimate and universal, inviting viewers into a shared emotional space of beauty and care, where the body can rest and belong.
“Originally from Boise, Idaho, I studied Interior Design at the University of Idaho before moving to Seattle to work in architecture and residential design. I also took fine art classes and connected with the free flowing drawing method of blind contour linework. It’s a meditative practice for me, where beauty exists in the imperfections and it allows your mind to be still. I’ve developed this style over the last 15 years. The compositions change but the foundation of the freeing, soft flowing line holds the intention.
“Over time, I was drawn away from the city to the quiet, coastal town of Port Townsend, WA, where I found deeper connection in nature, solitude, and surfing the wild waters of the Pacific Northwest. There, I balanced my creative practice with residential design projects, focusing on small, soulful homes and historic preservation. In 2019, I founded my design studio, Quiet Coast, inspired by simplicity, place, and intention.”
“After twelve years surrounded by the moody greens and grays of Washington, I followed an intuitive pull south to Carpinteria, California — a sun-soaked coastal town rich in vibrant color and expansive energy. With no plan and no connections, I surrendered to the unknown. This transition brought growth, healing, and a profound creative awakening. My work continues to be shaped by landscape, light, and the quiet beauty of everyday life — rooted in a love of home, nature, and soulful design.” -KSH
